A spontaneous Western Film Studies class was one of my favorites in college. One particular realization stuck beyond the final exam: while incredibly complex, driven, and fascinating, the women in Westerns hardly received any screen time. Three months later, we were assigned a coffee table book in Typography. I decided to explore six of the their stories, recreating photos with women who live in the West today. This project gave me the opportunity to shed light on their lives, as well as document a little piece of where we sit in present day.
